Palace Find Way To Win At Bottom Of Table Wolves

This one could have been a banana skin with the potential of a new manager bounce at Molineux but that was not the case as the Eagles found a way to win to push themselves into fourth place in the Premier League.

POST GAME QUOTES

OLIVER GLASNER

“Very good result here after the international break. It was a tight game, and we expected that. It was a very highly motivated Wolves team. It came to who would take one of those chances. We didn’t know because it was a new manager. It was a great adjustment from my assistants. Clean sheet, three points here at Wolves. It’s been a very good start. It’s a real crunch time now, so it’s good to start with a win.”

MARC GUEHI

“It was a good game, we always knew Wolves would make it tough for us. New manager, new hope and motivation for them. But we stuck to what we needed to do. It was a disciplined performance from us today.”

ADAM WHARTON

“We started well which was a positive. We got into good positions. The message at half-time was to keep doing the same things. They were tough to beat. They got in their shape and were compact. We got there in the end. For us it’s just about moving the ball quick and forcing them out to be able to play in behind.”

TEB VERDICT

The Eagles started the game a little slow with Guehi taking a booking very early on and perhaps showing that he has missed games through injury. However, the visitors had the better chances and should have had a penalty midway through instead of a free kick on the edge of the box.

The second half was very different as just when Clinton Morrison was scathing in his criticism of the Palace performance on Sky Sports, Danny Munoz stepped up to give the visitors the lead, after a long VAR check for a potential offside. Just a few minutes later, Yeremy Pino stepped up to score a sublime goal to ensure all three points were heading to South London.

Palace just found a way to win when not in the best form, and a little lethargic after the international break. Oliver Glasner will be well aware what happened in front of his eyes but will be rightly pleased with the victory.

Jean-Philippe Mateta had a real off day and continues to struggle with those one-on-one chances that fall his way, but it was known that he returned from international duty with a knock and gave way to the returning Eddie Nketiah who looking lively in his time on the pitch. Perhaps much needed rest time for the Frenchman who has had to play a lot of football so far this season.

Top Three Individual Performances – Yeremy Pino (8.2), Daniel Munoz (8.1), Maxence Lacroix (7.7)
