The points were shared at Goodison Park tonight even if that was a nervy few minutes, but the Eagles held on for a much deserved point. Here is all the post match reaction…
LIVE UPDATES
…
11.20pm – That was a day! We say goodbye to Roy, welcome Oliver and take a point from Everton! Thank you for joining us. We will have an article dedicated to Roy in the next day or so, but that has worn us out so we are going to say….
11.15pm – Our post match review is now up on TEB.
Palace Take Important Point At Everton Ahead Of Glasner Rein
11.10pm – Several players had the most shots (3) which included one Palace player, Chris Richards. The most tackles were made by Ben Godfrey, Idrissa Gueye and Tyrick Mitchell (5) while Jean-Philippe Mateta and Jordan Ayew had the most dribbles (2).
11.05pm – The Who Scored man of the match tonight was James Tarkowski with a rating of 7.9. The highest rated Palace player was Tyrick Mitchell with 7.2.
11.00pm – “First half, to be fair to the players, they’ve got a new manager sitting in the stands, we all know how that often works so fair play to Palace, they had that sharpness and a bit of edge about them. Second half, they found a great goal out of a nothing moment and we responded very well to that. We were on the front foot, asking questions, creating chances in general play. We looked a threat from set piece, which we finally scored from and I thought second half was a much better display.” – Sean Dyche
10.55pm – Paddy McCarthy went on to say that he had been fully focussed on preparing for the game and not had any conversation with the hierarchy on his future position at the club which will hopefully cevome clear in the next couple of days.
10.50pm – “I can’t say if having Oliver Glasner in the stands tonight had an effect but I am sure the players were aware he was watching on, they are professional and they deserve a lot of credit. The players are flexible and we utilised that system against Manchester City and Manchested United away, I am sure he will enjoy working with this great group of lads.” – Paddy McCarthy
10.45pm – “There is lots of quality and he is coming into a squad with a lot of character, there is lots of positives he will have seen and I am sure he cannot wait to get to work with them.” – Paddy McCarthy
10.40pm – “It was a wonderful goal by Jordan, but we couldn’t hold on. We knew Everton would hold us to some questions from set plays and I am disappointed we conceded, but ultimately we are happy with the point and we move on.” – Paddy McCarthy
10.35pm – “After being 1-0 down we would have taken it, set pieces were important but I would have liked to score more from them. Disappointed with it, but we will take the point. They went with three at the back, when we got the ball wide and the delivery wasn’t on point they outnumbered us a bit.” – James Tarkowski
10.30pm – Four of the last five Premier League goals from Palace have been scored from outside the box. That’s the joint most of any side in 2024 so far – with none of Palace’s previous 26 goals prior to this run coming from distance.
10.25pm – The importance of that point tonight keeps Everton at arms length heading into the game with Burnley at Selhurst at the weekend, and the start of a new chapter for the club. However, that is 14 games without a clean sheet.
10.20pm – The point puts Palace back into 15th place ahead of Nottingham Forest on goal difference, with 25 points from 25 games played. Everton climb out of the bottom three on goal difference as they change places with Luton who both have 20 points.
10.15pm – What a day it has been. We have bid a fond farewell to Roy Hodgson and welcomed Oliver Glasner who will take charge of his first game against Burnley on Saturday at Selhurst Park.
10.10pm – The equaliser came in the 84th minute from substitute Amadou Onana and while the hosts pushed for an equaliser, Palace held out thankfully to take a valuable point.
10.05pm – The Eagles took the lead courtesy of a brilliant goal from Jordan Ayew after 66 minutes following some great hold up play from Jean-Philippe Mateta.
10.00pm – The long journey back from Liverpool begins so safe travels to all those that made the trip. Here’s all the post match reaction and updates after the final whistle.
