Live updates from the pre-match press conference ahead of the game between Everton and Palace at Goodison Park on Monday night.
LIVE UPDATES
….
1.10pm – Well, it looks like we put the effort in on live updates for nothing but we hope we have provided some information for you, all in one place. Let’s just see how things pan out over the next 24 hours. We extend our best wishes to Roy.
1.05pm – The plot thickens, and of course it goes without saying that we hope Roy is okay if in fact he has been taken ill this morning.
1pm – BREAKING NEWS – The club have confirmed that the news conference due at 1.30pm will no longer take place as scheduled as Roy Hodgson was taken ill during this morning’s training session.
12.50pm – There are a lot of non-Palace fans weighing on the news that Hodgson may be on his way across social media. Poorly treated seems to be the main comment from most, which for the most part we do agree with. The club should have appointed someone last summer and we have wasted a season because of it. Roy was never going to say no to another stint at Selhurst. This is on the hierarchy at the club and poor decision making.
12.45pm – Still, we remain fascinated as to who will turn up at the Palace news conference in just over 45 minutes. Anyone for Pete the Eagle?
12.40pm – In other news, 90min are reporting that Manchester United are considering a move for Michael Olise in the summer, after being linked with them in January.
12.30pm – Plenty of reports out there that Roy will leave Palace imminently. The question is, will that be before the Everton game, or even before today’s news conference… Let’s see who turns up, if anyone at 1.30pm!
12.25pm – Glasner spent his playing career in Austria, primarily with SV Reid but also had a loan stint with LASK. After hanging up his boots in 2011, Glasner took up his first managerial role with SV Reid in 2014 before moving on to LASK in 2015.
He moved to Germany to take charge of Wolfsburg in 2019, finishing 7th and 4th in his two seasons. Eintracht Frankfurt recruited him ahead of the 2020-21 campaign and he continued to enhance his reputation, winning the Europa League in 2021-22 and reaching the German Cup final last term.
The 49-year-old Austrian has been out of work since stepping down from his post with Frankfurt at the end of 2022-23.
12.20pm – The speculation about Hodgson leaving his post imminently is after suggestions that the club have been speaking to former Eintracht Frankfurt coach Oliver Glasner.
12.15pm – With all the speculation, we have no idea whether Roy Hodgson is to attend today’s news conference which is scheduled for 1.30pm, as he may not be in a job by then. Watch this space….
12.10pm – Here is the second in quick succession, courtesy of Bobby once again….
12.05pm – It has been a busy morning for the team here at TEB with two articles going online, other than this one of course! Here is the first one from Bobby Manzi…
