Roy Hodgson’s time at Selhurst Park is set to be cut short after a horrific run of form that saw the South London club win just two of their last thirteen league matches.
The Eagles Beak sources understand that Crystal Palace were set to appoint Kieran McKenna last week before the managerial switch-up fell apart late in proceedings.
Attention then turned to the club’s backups, with Oliver Glasner and Steve Cooper at the top of the list.
Glasner, who has met both Dougie Freedman and another member of the Palace hierarchy, has massively impressed in numerous meetings over the past week and is said to be the frontrunner for the Palace job. The Europa League-winning coach is well placed to become the next Palace boss. However, chairman Steve Parish, who will have the final say over any managerial changes, has yet to meet Glasner.
Steve Cooper was also viewed as a feasible backup option to McKenna; however, there are reservations from both sides, with the former Nottingham Forest boss sceptical about taking the role at this period of the season and Steve Parish having his own drawbacks over the Welsh boss.
At this time, it remains unclear as to who will be in the dugout away to Everton on Monday evening, but Hodgson’s time as Palace manager is running out, with it only being a matter of time until there is a new boss in SE25.
