Liverpool Next Challenge In Front Of Struggling Palace

Following the midweek home defeat, there are plenty of fans that will be watching this match through their fingers, or not even turning up, but there is vague hope of a reaction against Liverpool after the dismal loss to Bournemouth.

ONE TO WATCH

DOMINIK SZOBOSZLAI

FORMER CLUBS – Fehervar FC, Fonix Gold, MTK Budapest, Liefering, Red Bull Salzburg, RB Leipzig

The Hungarian international has slotted in well at Anfield since his move from the Bundesliga for a reported £60million five year deal and has proven just what Klopp needed to rebuild a dismantled midfield.

KEY CLASH

ODSONNE EDOUARD v IBRAHIMA KONATE

The French international must find a way of taking the few chances that fall his way in the new few games in order to add to his six goal haul so far this season and take the pressure off the back line. A lot will depend on the service coming into him as well and with Michael Olise taking time to shake off his rustiness; Edouard must get the better of his compatriot in the Reds defence.

THE NUMBERS

Palace are winless in their past 12 Premier League meetings with Liverpool, their longest ongoing winless run against an opponent.

Liverpool have never lost an away Premier League game against Palace under Jurgen Klopp, winning 7 out of 8 visits. Their most recent defeat against the Eagles was in November 2014 under Brendan Rodgers.

Since the start of October, no side has won fewer Premier League games than Palace, while only Sheffield United have scored fewer goals than the Eagles.

Palace manager Roy Hodgson has lost each of his past 8 Premier League games against former club Liverpool. The last time he beat Liverpool was after a 1-0 win with West Brom in April 2012.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has won 12 of his 16 Premier League meetings with Palace, his joint-most against a side in the competition (also 12 v West Ham). In his managerial career, only against SC Freiburg (13) has he won more league games.

TEB PREDICTION

It will come as no surprise that we see nothing more than a Liverpool win in this early kick off at Selhurst. Being the early kick off may prove to be a blessing so fans can get it out of the way and get on with their weekend. There is always a glimmer of hope that the players will dig out some kind of a reaction after a dismal midweek defeat but with the visitors chasing down the league leaders, they will likely prove too much to handle, but we hope we are wrong.

FINAL SCORE: 2-0 to Liverpool
