TEB VERDICT

The build up to kick off was all about whether Arsenal could get back into the top four but in the end, none of that mattered as the Eagles took them apart in an impressive first half performance. That left the visitors too much to do in the second half and every man in a Palace shirt played their part in a clinical showing at Selhurst. Wilfried Zaha and Joachim Andersen were both hugely impressive but Jean-Philippe Mateta and Jordan Ayew again showing their worth by contributing with a goal each, but they gave much more than that. It is perhaps harsh to pick out certain players over others but you have to admire the way in which Vieira has his side playing right now

POST GAME QUOTES

PATRICK VIEIRA “It was a really good team performance. There have been games where we performed well but didn’t take our chances but in this game we performed well from the start and we managed to win the game and not concede. I don’t think it is the best performance, it is the performance we want and expect. At the beginning of the season we had some highs and lows. This time we played well from the first minute and I am really proud of the players. Our objective now is to try and perform like that and that is the challenge for us.”

MIKEL ARTETA – “Congratulations to Palace for the game they played but we made it impossible for ourselves with the way we competed. You have to be physical and run and then you earn the right to play. We were really inconsistent on the ball and that is unacceptable. We were poor, especially in the first half. I apologise to our supporters. We didn’t have the presence today or the composure to dominate the situation so that is what I’m most annoyed with. Some days you are not there and you are late all the time. They got on top of it and had a good atmosphere and we could not get out.”

  1. Clyne onlly 6 again ? 4 cleam sheets in a row against Wolves, Man City, Everton and Arsenak wouldn’t have been achieved if he has been performing at a 6 level. Viera wouldn’t keep picking him if he wasn’t up to the mark. I like and admire Ward but our defensive record has greatly improved since he got injured.
