The Everton forward contributed another attacking return for the almost 60% of all Fantasy Premier League owners that feature him in their starting XI.
With his brace against Fulham, the England international now has 10 goals this season which puts him at the top of the Golden Boot race. Some fun facts about DCL’s hot start:
All goals have come from open play.
It is the fastest (9 games) that a player has reached the 10 goal plateau in many years.
Lastly, Calvert-Lewin has scored the most goals from open play in all of Europe, edging out Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski by a goal.
Not bad from a player who cost £1.5 million and had only scored 11 Premier League goals in total before last season. Carlo Ancelotti has really unlocked his potential and DCL is firing on all cylinders to begin the years campaign.
But this isn’t an Everton site and I’ll stop gushing about Calvert-Lewin after I say that his 13 points were the high from a single player in this gameweek. It was a somewhat low scoring week as 13 points is the fewest point total from the high scorer this season.
While the high scorer point total was down, there were many players that scored in the double digits for their owners. Leno (ARS), Pope (BUR), Robertson (LIV), Milner (LIV), Fernandes (MUN), and Son (TOT) all had mighty returns for those that have them in their line ups. Not only did Bruno Fernandes score 11 points this week, but he was the most captained player of the gameweek and was also transferred in by over 1 million fantasy players.
If that feels like a lot of people to you then I would tend to agree. However, almost 3 million players (2.7+ million to be exact) transferred in goal machine Diego Jota from Liverpool. With Mo Salah contracting COVID (Again? Twice Mo? Really?) the summer transfer continued his scoring streak while being featured in the Liverpool lineup.
There was someone that recommended keeping Son and Kane in your line-up. I wonder who that could be…
IT WAS ME! Seriously though, Heung-Min Son is ridiculous at putting a ball in a net. The dude can’t stop, won’t stop scoring goals. Harry Kane can’t stop, won’t stop assisting goals. The duo are on fire and it doesn’t matter who the opposition is right now, they are going to put up points.
Nevermind that, in that same article I recommended Hakim Ziyech should be in your line-up… Let’s focus on the positives here people.
Let’s take a look at the standings for the TEB fantasy league.
The streak is finally over. After many weeks at the top of the leaderboard, team CaddePes FC has been unseated by fast riser C-6 Code Keras managed by Fatih Azka Adinugraha.
Where as many of the top teams struggled this week, his put up a very impressive 83 points led by the aforementioned Bruno Fernandes as captain. Here’s a look at how his team was set up.
It looks like he took my advice and kept Son and Kane while adding Ziyech to his line-up. He is definetly a reader of my articles I’m assuming 😉.
The high score of the week came from my favorite team name in the entire league: Koch And Balls. An impressive 93 points scored which without me exerting any effort in research (which is not my style if you have read my articles before) I’m going to declare as the highest single week point total yet this season. I am declaring this because the name is too good to dispute. Bravo sir.
As for my club, I’m still plodding along. Picking up points where I am able and trying to stay the course. Since the Wildcard chip, my team has responded with multiple weeks over the average score which is what we are all striving for right? I am currently in 242nd place out of a total of 345 players in the league so that’s not great. But it’s not totally awful. So I have that going for me.
Fantasy tips for the upcoming weekend
Start Eberichi Eze. That’s it. That’s the advice. Oh and it looks like Timo Werner and Tammy Abraham have formed quite the partnership at the top of Chelsea’s attack. May want to look at that as well…
Palace Quick Hits
- Look, we all watched the Burnley game. And if you didn’t, you’re better off for it. The game was ugly. It was gross. It was also typical Palace. Coming off a great 4-1 victory against a formidable Leeds United, Palace fell flat and couldn’t find a way past Nick Pope and the Clarets back line.
- Wilf not making the trip hurt obviously and it sounds like he may have had a run in with COVID. I hope he is well and returns quickly because there is a reason Steve Parish prices everyone out of a transfer. That is how much he means to this club.
- Eze, Eze, Eze. What a player. Truly one of the only players that really decided to show up at Turf Moor. Watching him blossom and take the next step while wearing the red and blue will be very special
Quick turnaround for the squad as they welcome Newcastle to Selhurst on Friday night. Points are still needed and Palace need to come away with at minimum of a draw. Although the club can take solace in the fact that nine games into the season, they are above Manchester City in the standings and level with both Manchester United and Arsenal. Not bad.
Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose!
Wait, that is from the TV show Friday Night Lights. Palace playing on a Friday has got me off my routine…
UP THE PALACE!!!
