Premier League Preview – Everton

Following the demolition of Newcastle United at Selhurst Park, Palace travel to Goodison Park in a Monday night game to take on an in form Everton side.

Unfortunately, our last Monday night game live in front of the television cameras did not work out well at all. However, Palace have fared well in the blue side of Merseyside in the last two seasons.

Since returning to the Premier League, the Eagles have managed consecutive 3-2 wins at Goodison Park with Yannick Bolasie making the score sheet in both. More interestingly, first it was Tony Pulis and then Neil Warnock. Can Alan Pardew follow their lead and win at Everton?

Palace will be missing winger Wilfried Zaha who has really been in great form of late and will be sorely missed. Bakary Sako is struggling to overcome a hamstring injury so Pardew may consider other options with Marouane Chamakh pushing for a start.

Team News

Crystal Palace – Both Marouane Chamakh and Dwight Gayle are included in the squad. Kwesi Appiah continues to miss out through injury as does Alex McCarthy. Wilfried Zaha misses out through suspension but it looks as though Bakary Sako will not be fit enough to take his place.

Everton – James McCarthy and Bryan Oviedo are both expected to miss out through injury as do Phil Jagielka, Tony Hibburt and Steven Pienaar.

Action Replay

The last game between the two sides took place at Selhurst Park in January 2015 which was settled by a second minute goal from Romelu Lukaku. The fixture earlier in the season was very different and Lukaku again scored an early goal but replies from Mile Jedinak from the spot, Frazier Campbell and Yannick Bolasie all but sealed the three points. A late penalty from Baines made for a frantic end to the game.

Form Guide

Going into this match up Everton have slightly better form having won two, drawing two and losing two from the last six. For Palace it is two wins, one draw and three losses. In the last six games between the two teams, it is all square with two wins each, two draws and two losses. from those six games, three were at Goodison Park with the visitors winning two and Everton one.

One To Watch

Gerard Deulofeu

The Spaniard has really proved his worth already this season since signing on a permanent deal at Goodison Park. The addition of Deulofeu has really given the side something extra especially striker Romelu Lukaku, both of whom seem to work very well together. In truth, it is a signing that the club has been crying out for and the former Barcelona player has not let them down.

Predictions

Final league position – 6th

The Toffees have impressed this season with Roberto Martinez at the helm. It has been no coincidence that since Gerard Deulofeu signed a permanent deal with the club, the form of Belgian Romelu Lukaku has improved. With other notable additions, Everton are looking every bit a top six side at the moment and there is no reason to suggest they will be otherwise this season.
