As we start to look ahead to our trip to Merseyside on Monday, we had a chat with Peter Mcpartland from Toffee TV who told us how he rates the season so far for Everton.
Q. What were you hopes and dreams for the season before a ball was kicked?
A cup! We are just desperate for some kind of silverware now, it has been twenty years and that is far to long for a club like Everton.
Q. How do you rate the squad that has been put together for this season?
I was worried about the squad but the younger players are maturing so fast that they have filled the gap where we failed to buy players, although we desperately need a new goalkeeper.
Q. Are Everton fans happy with the job that Roberto Martinez is doing at Goodison?
In the whole yes. He still has plenty of critics and he still has plenty of holes in his management style but he gets the benefit because the risks he takes pay off but when they do not, they back fire massively.
Q. Romelu Lukaku is having a great season so far. Is it any coincidence that Gerard Deulofeu is back at the club this season as they seem to have a great relationship on the pitch?
No coincidence at all. Lukaku did not start scoring consistently until Geri starting playing regularly this season. His role has changed and he plays more running forward on to through balls now rather than with his back to goal. Kone has also helped with this as he drifts off to the left and holds the ball up.
Q. It was good to see John Stones stay at the club in the summer but are you expecting a fight to keep hold of him in January?
No, and there was not a fight to keep him in the summer. We control our players and he will only go when it suits us and Barca come in for him!
Q. Are there any particular needs that you would like addresses in the January transfer window?
A GOALKEEPER!!!! Oh, and left sided midfielder as we have not replaced Steven Pienaar but to be honest, I doubt we will do any business.
Q. Who do you think will win the domestic competitions this season – Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup?
Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpol sadly …
Q. Name an Everton player that Palace should be wary of and a Palace player that Everton should be wary of and why?
I have already spoken about Deulofeu, but everything good we do goes through him. For Palace, Yannick Bolasie always does well against us and will on Merseyside.
Q. Your prediction?
I am going for a high scoring game, 3-2 to us but it could just as easily be 3-2 to you!
Q. And finally, please tell us about any projects that you are currently working on or anything else that you wish to promote.
I currently co-run and co-host the YouTube channel Toffee TV so check it out!
