POST GAME QUOTES

OLIVER GLASNER

“We played midweek, Brentford only play weekends, it was a fantastic performance and I’m really pleased with the mentality of this group. We want to keep our standard high against Arsenal. We have to manage the minutes and this is how we will go into the last 10 days.

We are not responsible for Arsenal or Manchester City. Next week will be the last game at Selhurst this season , so it is a big game for our fans and we need this game for top preparation for the Conference League Final.”

ADAM WHARTON

“It has been a long time coming. Delighted, shame we fell short at the end to get the three points but it’s a good feeling. A bit too many games to wait for a first goal, I should have scored before. It’s probably the worst shot I’ve had but it goes in and I’ll take it.

I’ll keep having bad shots and hope it goes in. We take it and it was a good performance. We have had a lot of games, we were getting tired, but proud of the performance against a team pushing for Europe.

A draw is not a terrible result and we’re looking at the performances more importantly right now with a European final on the horizon.”

TEB VERDICT

The Eagles were hard to compete with in the first half of this game and really should have been well ahead at the break but were wasteful in front of goal after going ahead from the spot.

Oliver Glasner opted for a strong starting line up and it almost paid off but the longer the game went on, players started picking up knocks which broke up the second half for treatment and substitutions. That alone will have an impact on his selection for the final game of the season at home to Arsenal, regardless of the countless questions he has already faced about that very subject.

Palace could well have ended up paying heavily for a whole host of missed chances but regardless of the draw, the game will always be remembered for Adam Wharton scoring his very first goal for the club as he closes in on a century of appearances.

The players and staff can now enjoy a week with no games which will be significant as they have not been able to enjoy that for a while now having navigated four games in eleven days.

Notable individual performances from Ismaila Sarr, Adam Wharton, Daniel Munoz, and Tyrick Mitchell.
