POST GAME QUOTES

OLIVER GLASNER

“If you want to get a point or even more, you need a top performance at the Etihad. We didn’t have a top performance. Some parts were okay, some parts were not good enough. We didn’t stick to the plan, particularly in the first half. Instead, we lost the ball because we were not quick enough, and we did not have the solution before we had the ball.

We couldn’t take advantage of their mistakes. If you make too many mistakes at the back, then you have no chance against City. We tried, everybody tried, but again it is not so easy against a team like City against players like City. See the first goal, it is just unpredictable.

City deserved the win. We could manage the minutes how we wanted to manage it. Again, it is four days until the next game, and we will do the same.”

MAXENCE LACROIX

“Quite difficult when you get three goals against an opponent. It is always difficult. We were not at our top level and when you play these types of top teams you have to be better. We take it game by game. We take all games seriously. We did good intensity, but maybe not in the right moments. Against big teams you can’t make big mistakes.”

TEB VERDICT

It was a first half of backs against the wall for Palace, and while they created a couple of good chances yet failing to capitalise on, it gave the hosts the incentive who scored twice before the break to keep Palace at arm’s length and their title ambitions on track.

With a trio of changes on the hour mark by Glasner, Palace were able to defend higher up the pitch rather than in their own half as was the case for much of the first half, but there were more Arsenal fans hoping for a result for the visitors than Palace fans in truth.

There really was only going to be one result on the night in what was a third game of four for the Eagles in a period of eleven days. Managing to get through this fixture unscathed having already secured Premier League status for another record-breaking campaign would have been high up on the wish list, but the Eagles were never in contention against City after putting in a quite lacklustre display.

We’re not interested in who wins the Premier League, we are interested in who wins the Conference League.
