Eagles Return To Action For Pivotal Run Of Fixtures

The third or four international breaks that need navigating this season is done and dusted as the Eagles return to action for a busy schedule of fixtures that will be key to how the season will shape up.

Several Palace players return from international duty which was an intriguing week of fixtures around the world with a number of nations celebrating qualification for the World Cup next year, while other will take part in play off games in March.

With the fourth and final international break a long way off, we have a long run of domestic fixtures  to look forward to as Palace continue to battle on several fronts.

Before the year is out, we will know whether interests continue in the League Cup and Conference League as we bid farewell to another calendar year.

It is unclear what effect the international break will have had on some of our players while assessments continue at the training ground in Beckenham, but Marc Guehi is the known concern having missed the home draw with Brighton as well as the two England games with Serbia and Albania.

Cheick Doucoure continues to miss out, and for a player that showed so much promise when he arrived and was even linked with a large bid from Liverpool, we do wonder if he will return anything close to being the same player.

Chadi Riad suffered a setback having been included in the squad against AZ Alkmaar, while Eddie Nketiah could be closing in on a return.

The trip to Wolverhampton this weekend sees Oliver Glasner pit his wits against newly appointed managed Rob Edwards, who left a Boro side challenging at the top of the Championship for the role at Molineux.

The pull for Edwards would have been strong with his time as a player at the club as a centre back in a spell from 2004 to 2008.

The bottom of the table club with just 2 points may well be rejuvenated under new management which may prove more of a challenge for the visitors, yet, there is no doubting Glasner and his management team will have done their homework over the break.
