Two Unbeaten Records On The Line As Palace Host Liverpool

The two sides meet each other for the second time this season following the season opener at Wembley which saw the Eagles secure their second domestic trophy in just a matter of months.

It is clear that the visitors have been in great form since that loss on penalties having won all five of their Premier League games so far this season.

In contrast, the Eagles are on a record breaking run themselves after accumulating 17 games unbeaten with victory over West Ham last weekend.

It is rather hard to fathom quite how impressive Palace have been in 2025, with the club breaking new ground on so many different levels. Now is the time to keep that going now that we are well into the new campaign with such an impressive start.

Games have come thick and fast which is certainly not going to see us complaining, as that is what being successful is all about.

Oliver Glasner will be eyeing another victory over Liverpool in a short space of time and with the opening Conference League fixture tantalisingly on the horizon in Poland next week, the Austrian is professional enough to ensure concentration is on this Premier League fixture first and foremost.

It was great to see Adam Wharton return from injury at the London Stadium last weekend, and a first sighting of Eddie Nketiah this season will help Jean-Philippe Mateta who has clearly been overworked already this season with no real options to replace him. Hopefully, we see the return of Ismaila Sarr this weekend who has been an important player for this Palace side.

The Eagles sit fifth in the Premier League after an excellent start to the season, six points behind leaders Liverpool. After the match this weekend, Palace travel to Poland for the first of six Conference League games before travelling to take on Everton, and returning to Selhurst to play Bournemouth. That will end this batch of fixtures heading into a second international break of the season.

With all interest the Reds had in Marc Guehi right up to and including transfer deadline day, which ultimately failed, this will be the first time the Palace defender has faced them since the much publicised saga. Now that the window is closed, they have allegedly turned their attentions to Adam Wharton, but whether that is true remains to be seen.

It is an important week for the Eagles with the European fixture being sandwiched by games against Merseyside clubs, and they will do very well to retain that unbeaten run.
