Palace Must Step Up In Return To Old Trafford

It was widely reported the injury concerns Roy Hodgson had heading into the cup game in the week which unsurprisingly ended in defeat, but there simply has to be a reaction in the league fixture which will see a slightly stronger line up, if not by much.

ONE TO WATCH

BRUNO FERNANDES

FORMER CLUBS – Investa, Boavista, Pasteliera (loan), Novara, Udinese, Sampdoria, Sporting

The Portuguese international is one of the consistent performers for United and after missing the midweek game will be fresh to take the field against Palace which they will need to be wary of. A very difficult yet classy opponent that can pop up with an assist or goal from nothing.

KEY CLASH

EBERECHI EZE v CASEMIRO

It was a surprise to see Eze take the field when the game was clearly gone on Tuesday but he did creats in his short cameo so expecting him to be that key part to anything we do well this weekend. He will be up against a Brazilain midfielder who scored in that game, so time for our man to try and do the same in the league game!

THE NUMBERS

United won this fixture 2-1 in February but haven’t managed to win consecutive league games against Palace since March 2018.

Roy Hodgson is unbeaten in his last 4 trips to Old Trafford in the Premier League (W2 D2) having lost each of his first 7 visits beforehand. No manager has gone unbeaten in 5 consecutive away Premier League games against United previously.

United suffered a defeat in their last home Premier League game, losing 3-1 against Brighton. The Red Devils haven’t lost consecutive home games since losing to Liverpool and Manchester City in October and November 2021, their last 2 home league games under Ole Gunnar Solskjær.

In their 0-0 draw with Fulham, Eberechi Eze had 3 shots and created 3 chances for Palace, meaning he was involved in 6 out of 7 of their efforts at goal in the game. Eze has the most shots and chances created combined (42) in the Premier League this season (26 shots, 16 chances created).

United’s Bruno Fernandes registered his 80th Premier League goal involvement when scoring the winner against Burnley (46 goals, 34 assists), the fourth-most of any player since his debut.

TEB PREDICTION

Can we expect much diffierent in the second visit to take on United in a week? Well, you may think not, and we would probably agree with you but United are not a real force at the moment contrary to their cup victory. There were chances created by Palace once Eberechi Eze had entered the fray and while there are questions about who will be between the sticks, we will have the likes of Eze, Andersen and Hughes starting. That does however leave very little to come off the bench should we need something and that is not expected to improve until after the next international break.

FINAL SCORE: 2-1 to United
