World Cup 2014 Coverage Kicks Off

We have joined forces with our friends at Baggies Facts to bring you the best fan coverage of the World Cup Finals being held this summer in Brazil.

Our coverage will continue throughout the tournament and articles will appear on both The Eagles Beak and Baggies Facts sites. Here is what you can look forward to;

  • Reviews of previous World Cup Finals
  • Preview of each group
  • Updates on each group throughout the group stage
  • Preview and review of every second round game
  • Preview and review of each every quarter final, semi final and the final
  • World Cup diary from a USA based Netherlands fan
  • Regular editions of The Eagles Punt throughout the tournament from our usual tipster
  • World Cup version of our popular Predictions League
  • World Cup version of our Fantasy Football League through the FIFA website

We kick things off with a review of each World Cup over the next week starting with Spain 82 right the way through to 2010 in South Africa 2010. The first article will be a two parter to cover World Cups before Spain 82.

Next we move on to the group previews and this is where things start to get interesting. Here at The Eagles Beak, we will be covering groups B, D, F and H while Baggies Facts will be responsible for groups A, C , E and G.

The groups that we are responsible for have been allocated to each of our regular team of writers on the site, myself as editor, Paul Price, Neil Carter and Adam Johnson while Jack Fitzgerald will be doing the odd article as well as preparing our images.

We will follow the teams that progress from the group stages right the way through to the final and the site that has been responsible for covering the country that takes the trophy will have the bragging rights for the next four years – the ultimate incentive!

The review of the groups will begin on 4th June which will take us up to the eagerly anticipated opening game of the competition between hosts Brazil and Croatia on 12th June.

Throughout the group stages we will be providing updates on each group the day after the two games of each round have been played. For instance, on 14th June there will be updates of groups A and B which will look back at the first two games in each group with a look ahead to the next two. Our game previews and reviews will continue all the way to the final.

In addition we also have a willing writer to keep a World Cup diary so thanks to EPL Roundtable podcast host Kevin De Vries for agreeing to do this. While he resides in the States he has more than a passing interest in the Dutch national team. The regular feature ‘Kev’s World Cup Diary’ should be a whole lot of fun.

We will also have regular editions of ‘The Eagles Punt’ by our usual tipster Paul Darville. There will be a World Cup version of our ‘Predictions League’ and we will be looking for fans to represent the ‘Palace Faithful’ and the ‘Oppo Fans’ throughout the tournament.

We will also be setting up a World Cup version of our Fantasy Football League and we have chosen the FIFA website to do this through so go and register before the game opens for entries on 8th June.

Our coverage will be taking you right through to the final on 13th July so stick with us and we hope that you will enjoy what we are planning to bring you.
