The search for a striker appears to have ended for the Eagles with the signing of Togo international Emmanuel Adebayor.
The former Tottenham Hotspur man became a free agent in September 2015 after his contract was cancelled by mutual consent. The thirty one year old joins Crystal Palace in a deal until the end of the season, where he will wear the number 25 shirt.
Adebayor began his career at Togolese club OC Agaza before moving to FC Metz in 1999 where he made 44 appearances and scored 15 goals. He then joined Monaco in 2003 and appeared for them 78 times scoring 18 goals before moving to England with Arsenal signing him in 2006. After over 100 appearances for the North London side and scoring 46 goals, Adebayor moved to Manchester City in 2009, where he had a mixed spell including loans with Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur before joining the latter permanently in 2012.
At City, he managed 34 appearances and scored 15 goals. In his loan spells he played 14 times for Real Madrid scoring 5 goals while at Spurs he managed 33 appearances and 17 goals. After signing a permanent deal he played another 59 times and scored 18 goals.
The six foot three inch striker first appeared for his country, Togo, in 2000. He has made 63 appearances, some of which were at the 2006 World Cup in Germany, and has scored 29 goals.
We welcome Emmanuel to the club and wish him all the best playing for the red and blue.
