The Eagles were never in the game down on the South Coast as the in-form hosts had the bit between their teeth as they seek a top six finish to secure European football next season.

POST GAME QUOTES
OLIVER GLASNER
“The tank was empty, we could see it. The players tried and in the second half we were much better, it was a game on the same level. In the first half, it was too much and we couldn’t get the turnaround from Thursday. The players tried, but I could see it at the set plays and the easy mistakes. It’s not to blame anyone. It was just really overwhelming for us, this match and the win against Shakhtar.
I trust these players completely. They have shown they can play better and I know they will find the focus. It’s not an excuse, but we travelled back to London on Friday and then travelled to Bournemouth yesterday. It’s a lot at the end of a long season. None of our players have ever experienced anything like this.”

TEB VERDICT
Oliver Glasner said it all in his post-match assessment of the game and there is very little about his comments that you could question.
This was poor performance by the Eagles, and even though there was an exceptionally soft penalty (the third of the season in fact!) which gave the hosts a two-goal lead before the break, the visitors deserved nothing from the game.
It was clear that the players very much had Krakow in the legs and little left to give as Bournemouth took full advantage.
It is worth pointing out that Glasner did not have his first eleven on the pitch at the same time even after making a whole host of changes at the break. Add to the Austrians problems was Will Hughes going down with illness before the game as he would have started instead of Daichi Kamada. There is little excuse for such a performance but this group of players will be pushing 60 games by the time the season ends.
However, with the biggest game in the Eagles history taking place on Thursday night in South London, this result can be firmly forgotten if a ticket to Leipzig is booked.
