POST GAME QUOTES

OLIVER GLASNER

“We feel that we have been abandoned completely. Selling our captain one day before a game. That makes me really upset today. If your heart gets torn out twice a year. Eze and Guehi one day before a game.

I don’t know about transfer activity. I heard yesterday morning we are selling Marc. Then we have to deal with it. No team would do this. I don’t know if I will see the season out. We will stick together. I will never step back, but it would help if we have a little bit of support.”

TEB VERDICT

Being on the end of the biggest FA Cup shock last week was just dip in the ocean in comparison to what was to follow.

Captain Marc Guehi heading to Manchester City, manager Oliver Glasner announcing his departure in the summer, and news that Jean-Philippe Mateta was being heavily linked to Juventus was a triple blow in lead up to this game.

In truth, after all that news being made public the day before the game, many expected little else than defeat which eventually happened even after Yeremy Pino gave the visitors some hope with a first half goal which was cancelled out in a matter of minutes by the hosts.

A decent first half was followed by a disappointing second half which featured no changes from the bench, and once again, we sit here wondering why that might be with nothing to lose.

The less said about this performance the better with very little positives to take from it, maybe other than seeing Chadi Riad return to the bench for the first time in quite some time. It feels very much like the club is on the floor at the moment and a spark is needed. No pressure, but Ismaila Sarr returns for Chelsea next week, but you do have to wonder what Brennan Johnson is thinking right now!
