POST GAME QUOTES

OLIVER GLASNER

“The players were so resilient and supported each other with a great mentality. The players are doing well and they have a clear structure in the game. We controlled the game well but it is not just the tactical side. The longer the game continued, the more we didn’t have the legs and then it is just to fight.

We are not talking about the league table and the results. We are just talking about performances. We know that we can rely on our defensive shape and we will see what we can get. My conviction at the end of the season is that you will get what you deserve and I think we deserve a lot.”

MARC GUEHI

“We work hard. It wasn’t the prettiest. Burnley are always going to make it difficult because they are fighting for every point. A win like that says a lot about the team’s fight. When we take a lead, we have confidence that we can see the game out.

I think a lot in the past it has been a mentality of it’s okay to be wherever we are but since Oliver Glasner has come in, there is a real expectation that we put on ourselves to keep improving and keep fighting for points while doing the best that we can.”

TEB VERDICT

The best way to describe this result was that Palace found a way to win at home, in midweek, and off the back of two defeats in a row.

It was a spirited performance with an excellent Daniel Munoz goal ending up being the difference between the two sides in what was a poor game.

Oliver Glasner will not worry about that too much, winning is key and this result means that the Eagles are not just up to fifth in the Premier League but reach their highest ever tally at this stage of a campaign.

Of course, there will be concerns for the management team but with games coming so thick and fast, it is just a case of getting through.

There was a lot of criticism after the home defeat to Manchester United on Sunday, but not many would have put Palace in fifth place after fourteen games. While the performance was not the best, the victory goes some way to making amends as they make the short trip across London on Sunday to take on Fulham.
