In what has been a nemesis of sorts for the Eagles in recent seasons, the poor record against the blue side of Merseyside continued as the Toffees saw an end to the record breaking run.

POST GAME QUOTES
OLIVER GLASNER
“Huge credit to the team, to the players. I told them now after the game that it’s the next chapter they have written for Crystal Palace in this history book after winning two trophies, now the longest unbeaten run. On the other side, it hurts even more if you don’t have this feeling for six months of losing a game. Maybe we need this for us to make the next step forward. It’s never a straight line up in improvement.”
DAVID MOYES
“We could’ve been three down in the second half before we go on to win the game. They’ll be disappointed they didn’t get that chance. We hung in. We kept defending even though we weren’t great but we played much better in the second half and we were worthy of maybe getting it but if you look at it they could’ve had a couple more goals.”

TEB VERDICT
The incredible run of unbeaten games comes to an end but for a club like Palace to go 19 games in all competitions without losing is simply stunning.
It had to end at some point and why not at Everton, a team that left Goodison Park in the summer which we thought could have changed out luck. It was not to be the case as the hosts fought back from a goal down to score late on and hand the Eagles a defeat.
Losing is an odd feeling, and you have to hand it to the players and management staff. This was perhaps one game too far particularly after the trip to Poland on Thursday.
There is no denying that playing on Thursday in Europe and again in the league on Sunday is incredibly difficult for any side, and trying not to mention some of the odd refereeing decisions, the visitors started losing their legs as the second half went on.
Having said that, Palace had enough chances to be more than one goal ahead and have enough in the bank to defend as the game went on. An unlucky penalty call after a Maxence Lacroix challenge in the box, and the deflected winner for the hosts could have gone either way.
The international break comes at perhaps a decent time, as we head into a tough run of fixtures when we return. Notable individual performances from Yeremy Pino, Chris Richards and Daniel Munoz.
