Mitchell Wondergoal Maintains Unbeaten Run With Victory At West Ham

You could argue that the Eagles were not at their best at the London Stadium but this team just digs in and finds a way to win, or not to lose, as the unbeaten run ticks over to 17 games.

POST GAME QUOTES

OLIVER GLASNER

“We did really well today, the only criticism is that we didn’t decide the game when we could have done. We had some good situations in the box when we didn’t score.

We struggled for a bit, but credit to the players. The goal for the next few months is to be more efficient in attack, be more clinical and take the chances that we have. We have a lot of potential, it’s about being more consistent in decision-making. This is our foundation.

Results are so tight in the Premier League, you always have to perform on your top level. It’s so competitive, but we will prepare [for Liverpool] in the best way. We feel ready, but we will need a better performance than today to beat them.”

WILL HUGHES

“I think in years gone by, there’s been certain games throughout those 16 matches where we would have potentially lost, because the mentality is not there. But if you’re not playing at your best, don’t lose. Our mindset is as simple as that.

I think last weekend was a great example of that. We weren’t necessarily at our best. Finding it difficult to break something down, although we did have chances, in the end, we just had to make sure we don’t lose, and at the end of the season it’s points added up.”

TEB VERDICT

There were similarities to the victory at the London Stadium last season but being pegged back by the hosts straight after the break tested the character of this side.

Oliver Glasner rarely gets it wrong, and the master tactician did it again with both how the players set up, and the changes that were made in the second half.

Overall, Palace deserved to take all three points back to London, but this was another hard-fought victory. It was good to see Jean-Philippe Mateta back on the score sheet, and even better to see Tyrick Mitchell score an absolute cracker to seal the win.

Forgive us for mentioning it, bit the result put Palace up into fourth spot in the Premier League at the final whistle with the two remaining unbeaten teams taking each other on at Selhurst Park next weekend.

Too many notable individual performances in this one, but a shout out to Chris Richards who just seems to be getting better and better with every game.
