TEB VERDICT

What a night at Selhurst!

We all turned up to have a party, and the players went out and put in a performance that soundly beat the visitors for which they deserve full credit for after the exertions of the weekend.

Oliver Glasner made a few changes to the starting line-up but they did not disappoint, even when going a goal behind.

The night however belonged to Joel Ward for all his service to the club, and received the send off that we can all be proud of and says everything about how much he has been valued at the club.

It remains difficult to put into words what this group continue to do and they could have been forgiven for not turning up for this game so soon after the FA Cup victory. However, clubs rarely get such an opportunity to return to their home ground after such success to celebrate in front of their fans, and that is something we can be thankful for. Not to forget of course that the club have exceeded their best points tally in the Premier League in the process.

Notable individual performances from Ben Chilwell, Romain Esse, and Eddie Nketiah.

Now, on to an open top bus tour before we can head off for the summer very contended….

POST GAME QUOTES

OLIVER GLASNER

“We spoke about it before and we didn’t know what we would see or what we would get, so credit to the players. We had a great energy on the pitch and that is not easy after such a huge achievement. This is an outstanding and incredible group – and they showed it again. We trust every single one of these players and everyone has contributed to the success.

It was a fantastic atmosphere. Everybody shouted my name, I didn’t know what they wanted but someone said I should wave with my hands. It was an amazing experience and a great game. We always want everyone to have a great time at Selhurst Park and make sure that they are happy.”

JOEL WARD

“What a way to sign off. I couldn’t have written a better story and a better ending. I feel honoured and incredibly blessed to have had this time at Palace and I look forward to the next challenge in front of me.

There is belief in that changing room and I’m sure these lads will take this club forward. What an exciting period. I’ve been part of this club for so long and I will be following these guys next season. This is a fairy tale ending for me.

It means the world. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the family, they supported me and they made the sacrifices in the early years. All the players and managers over the years have helped me continue the journey.

The manager demands a lot from us and then it is up to us to fulfil our potential. He knows us inside and out. To bring home a major trophy and take this club into Europe, he deserves all the plaudits he gets.”

EDDIE NKETIAH

“We are buzzing. We are happy. It is a massive day for us. Our manager was keen to keep it going and keep the celebrations going. Everyone was firing and we got the win. The unity between the fans and the players is amazing. It is a good place to develop and it will be amazing to have European nights here.”

VITOR PEREIRA

“We cannot compete at this level if we offer gifts to them and, in my opinion, they were four gifts. In the moment we had a chance to score to make it 3-3, we made another mistake and this is not possible. We must be focused until the last minute. We must be at our best level every time.

I must speak about the team. As a team, we committed mistakes that we cannot commit. In this league, if you commit a mistake then they will punish you. The Premier League is not a league where we can come here to be a part of the party for them. We come here to compete for the three points.”
