Palace Warm Up For FA Cup Final With Victory At Spurs

It is silly to suggest there would be little interest in this fixture, but all fans wanted was to come through it unscathed, and that is exactly what the Eagles did, and more.

TEB VERDICT

This was a perfect afternoon for the Eagles, as not only did they not pick up any suspensions for injuries ahead of the cup final, they managed to take all three points in a performance that kept the hosts on the back foot.

It has been a while since Palace have won away at Spurs, but Oliver Glasner has masterminded victory in only his second visit, and with that a league double for the season.

In truth, the scoreline could really have been more in favour of the Eagles but no more were needed to add to the brace from that man in form Ebere Eze either side of the half time whistle. The second is well worth watching repeatedly.

Once again, every player played their part in this victory but notable mentions to Marc Guehi, Daniel Munoz and of course, Ebere Eze.

The victory pulls Palace level to the most points attained by the club in the Premier League, two games to go and one more to get to improve on that.

We’re all off to Wembley now, see you there!

POST GAME QUOTES

OLIVER GLASNER

“We had so many chances in the first half because of the high line, we expected this. We created so many situations and then you need those players in the box to score the goals. I’m really delighted with the performance, it’s good preparation for the FA Cup final.

It was 1-0 and we could have decided the game already. We had two disallowed goals and hit the post. It’s to be efficient. I think the last 20 minutes we lost a bit of intensity. Tottenham had a big win three days ago and they couldn’t compete with the energy. It was a really good day for us.

This is always about our performance. We gave them too many transitions and we lost the ball too many times. They had two or three very good chances at the end, this is too much I think.”

ANGE POSTECOGLOU

“It was disappointing, we never really got into the game and we didn’t control it at any time. We’ve handled it well so far, that’s not the issue. The issue is making multiple changes, we aren’t reacting well to that.

If you think we wouldn’t have 20 league defeats without being in the final, then I don’t know how else to describe it. I’m disappointed, it’s clear we’re not anywhere near the level we need to be. We’re making changes and the guys are getting opportunities.”
