ONE TO WATCH

BRUNO GUIMARAES
FORMER CLUBS – Audax Rio, Audax, Athletico Paranaense (loan), Lyon
The Brazilian midfielder has been instrumental in a season that has already seen Newcastle end a long wait for silverware by winning the League Cup and looking in good shape to qualify for the Champions League next season.

THE NUMBERS

Newcastle have kept a clean sheet in their last 3home league matches against Palace and in 6 of the last 8 versus the Eagles at St James’ Park.

Palace have only won 1 of their last 7 league games against the Geordies (D4, L2).

In the reverse fixture Newcastle drew 1-1 despite having just one shot, with their goal coming from Marc Guehi. It was only the eighth time since records were kept from 2003-04 that a side had avoided defeat despite having one shot or fewer in a Premier League match.

Palace could score in 14 top-flight games in succession for only the third time after August to November 1979, and between May and October 1991.

Defeat to Manchester City on Saturday was only their fourth in their last 20 league games. It also ended their club record run of 10 away top-flight matches without defeat.

Palace’s tally of 15 goals from set pieces (excluding penalties) is the most by a Premier League side this season.

Eberechi Eze has contributed 2 goals and 6 assists in his last 11 league games.

KEY CLASH

ADAM WHARTON v BRUNO GUIMARAES
The young Palace midfielder will be up against a very tricky opponent in this midweek clash in what will be one of key battles in this fixture, particularly if the Eagles are to return back South with anything.

TEB PREDICTION

This is a key fixture for the hosts who are chasing a top four finish in the Premier League, while the Eagles will be looking to bounce back from the disappointment of the hefty defeat by Manchester City. The visitors do travel to the North East with a stronger squad than at the weekend, free of suspensions and illness so we could see a reaction. A point from this game will be very good heading back to Selhurst Park this weekend.

PREDICTED SCORE: 1-1
