A short trip for the Eagles as fans will be heading down the Thames for the annual journey to Craven Cottage for what will be an interesting match up.
Ahead of the two sides meetings, we have a chat to the guys at FFC Voice to find out how their season is going, how the transfer window player out for them, thoughts on the fixture, and much more.
TEB – In the reverse fixture, Fulham came away from Selhurst with a victory. Casting your mind back, what were your thoughts on the game?
FFCV – It was a very unlike away performance from us in that it was quite comfortable! You had a player sent off in the second half which helped but it felt like one of those games where we played you at a good time.
TEB – Fulham sit 8th in the Premier League going into the weekend, and have an FA Cup Fifth Round tie against Manchester United next month. How do you summarise the season so far?
FFCV – It has to be seen as a good season overall but we are also left wondering what might have been. We have dropped points at home to Ipswich, Southampton, West Ham and Wolves as we don’t kill games off enough. It seems 8th might come with a European spot this season so I’d take it!
TEB – How has Joachim Andersen got on after his move from Palace to Fulham in the summer? Has he been the signing Fulham fans were expecting?
FFCV – Yes and no. He is obviously a very good defender but it’s clear that his lack of pace is an area other teams tend to target. That said, his experience has no doubt helped Calvin Bassey next to him.
TEB – What did the January transfer window look like for Fulham? Were weaker areas of the team strengthened?
FFCV – It was a strange window from us. Kenny Tete was on form at right back but was badly injured in December leaving us with just Timothy Castagne in that position. Right back was an area Marco Silva said he needed to strengthen but ultimately we didn’t which does leave us exposed. We have also suffered injuries to Harry Wilson and Reiss Nelson which led to the re-signing of Willian for six months. I’m not sure he’ll be fit enough to start but it does give us an option from the bench. Ultimately, we left the window in much the same place as we started it unfortunately.
TEB – Expectations for the rest of this season?
FFCV – I fancy us against Manchester United in the cup, so a trip to Wembley would be great. I can’t help but feel with the season we’ve had it would be a waste of we didn’t finish in the top eight.
TEB – Early ambitions for next season?
FFCV – Who knows, like most clubs our size we are always 1 or 2 transfer windows away from success or disaster. In truth, the most important thing is that Marco Silva remains at the helm.
TEB – If you could sign one realistic player to drastically improve the Fulham starting eleven, who would it be and why?
FFCV – Liam Delap, realistic? That ship might have sailed but he was a handful against us and is exactly what we need.
TEB – Expectations for the game this weekend including final score prediction?
FFCV – Fulham have dropped points at home this season but hopefully we can carry on the form we showed last week against Nottingham Forest. I’m going for a 3-1 Fulham win. Adama causing chaos on the wing!
