TEB VERDICT

The disappointing form at Selhurst Park continues and it is becoming a bit of a mystery now. It is thankful that the away form has been so productive.

Oliver Glasner was correct in his post-match comments when he said that this has a striking resemblance to the loss at home to Brentford where mistakes and failure to take chances contributed to the defeat.

It is a quandary that the Austrian needs to try and resolve as while it is expected that two more wins this season will keep Palace away from the bottom three, continued participation in the FA Cup will need that home form to change after a far from convincing victory over Stockport.

It was perhaps a gamble to leave Ebere Eze and Adam Wharton on the bench from the start which allowed Justin Devenny to make a start, but the continued problems down the left partly contributed to this defeat and must be an area that needs targeting directly.

Notable individual performances from Marc Guehi and Jean-Philippe Mateta who with his goal became the join second top score in the Premier League for the club.

POST GAME QUOTES

OLIVER GLASNER

“It is frustrating, and similar to the defeat against Brentford. The game was exactly how we expected and then of course when we concede such goals, it is hard. We had two or three chances and the first half was quite equal.

We gave them this kind of goal, had a great reaction and then it was up and down. It was a set play again when we can’t clear it and that is why we lost. The players tried everything and we had a big effort. It is not so easy to score against them. We had some opportunities but we didn’t have the efficiency today.”

DAVID MOYES

“The players have reacted well. It has been a dream start coming in and winning so many games. Starting to look more healthy in the Premier League.

I hope it will be the case, ultimately I am thinking we still have to get enough points. It has been a brilliant start, it was a good win for us, really scrappy. They showed great resilience and won at a difficult place against a team who have been improving.”
