The Eagles made up for the loss at home to Brentford last weekend with back-to-back wins at Old Trafford which was even more welcome with the return of Adam Wharton.

TEB VERDICT
The dismal display last Sunday was banished after an excellent performance at Old Trafford and another brace from that man Jean-Philippe Mateta.
With Ebere Eze expected to miss the game but ending up starting on the bench along with the returning Adam Wharton, both had cameos in the second half and made key contributions to both goals ensuring Palace returned to South London with the points.
Oliver Glasner watched his side spurn chance after chance after the hosts faded from a good early start. It could have been a different story, but up stepped Mateta just when required to hit the net at important stages of the game.
That makes it eight games unbeaten away from home and four in row without conceding. Not only that, but the Eagles have also not conceded now against United in for games.
Everyone played their part, but the back line is in formidable form and providing that springboard for the rest of the team, particularly Chris Richards who has stepped into the back three since the sudden departure of Trevoh Chalobah.
The victory sees Palace back in that comfort blanket of 12th place but more importantly, the 30 point mark has been reached and four points off the top ten.
POST GAME QUOTES
OLIVER GLASNER
“We defended really well today, we struggled in some moments at the start and after half time. We scored from a set-play but had two or three big chances in the first half and we had to keep the belief. We knew there would be moments where we had to survive because every team has this at Old Trafford. Big credit to the team and the players today.
The second goal is everything we are always talking about and I am delighted that it started with Adam Wharton playing a great one-touch pass. Really great to watch, big win and we stay humble and keep going.
It’s him, it’s JP. The first goal was after a set play and he is where he has to be as a number nine. He makes so many runs where he doesn’t get the ball. We demand and encourage him. Everything he is doing, he is doing it and of course we are delighted with his form.”
JEAN-PHILIPPE MATETA
“I’m feeling fantastic! We won these three points, we worked hard and I am very happy. We know how they play with the new manager, we worked on a plan during the week and we stuck to the plan. We listened to the gaffer and worked hard and I think we deserve this win. I just put my head down and worked hard and I think sometimes when you do that, you get the reward.”
DEAN HENDERSON
“You put in that hard work every day to become a team that is hard to beat. They are loads better from the start of the season. We had new players come in and the positions have evolved. They’ve been fantastic and they made my day easy. Obviously it is nice to come back and get the win at Old Trafford but more importantly, to get the three points and keep climbing up the table.”
