Eagles Head To Villa With New Found Confidence Ahead Of Cup Tie

It was a long time coming but now we will get to see whether getting that first win of the season has a real effect on the rest of the season, with a trip to Villa up next in the League Cup.

MATCH INFORMATION

30 October 2024 – 7.45pm
Villa Park, Trinity Road, Birmingham B6 6HE

PREVIOUS MEETING

16/09/2023 – The visitors started well in the last visit to Villa Park with Odsonne Edouard giving Palace the lead straight after the break. They looked good value for all three points until Jhon Duran found a late equaliser before the sucker punch of further goals from Douglas Luiz and Leon Bailey flattered the hosts.

WHO SCORED MAN OF THE MATCH – Douglas Luiz (7.9)

Villa took their place in the Fourth Road after a 2-1 Third Round win at Wycombe Wanderers, their first fixture in the competition this season due to European commitments.

ONE TO WATCH

YOURI TIELEMANS
FORMER CLUBS – Anderlecht, Monaco, Leicester City
The Belgian international did find it difficult to nail down a starting spot when he moved from Leicester last summer but he has taken his opportunity this season following some midfield changes at the club in the summer.

KEY CLASH

VILLA v PALACE
Once again, it is difficult to know what the key clash will be. Villa has an excessive fixture list now that they are participating in the new Champions League format which guarantees eight games, while Oliver Glasner put out a strong starting line up in the victory at QPR in the last round and he is likely to do so again. We would not expect the hosts to do the same.

TEB PREDICTION

The win over Spurs at the weekend will bring that feel good factor back and the Eagles head to Villa Park with renewed confidence and finding that first league victory off their backs. There could be an opportunity for Palace to take advantage of the hosts long list of fixtures which is likely to see them play a weakened team. That does not always work in the way you expect as those fringe players will want to impress, so we are expecting a tight contest.

FINAL SCORE: 2-1 to Palace
