TEB VERDICT

The Eagles continue to be a work in progress under Oliver Glasner this season, particularly with the new additions from the transfer window.

There were plenty of positives to take from the game, not least the battle back to take a point which was much deserved on the balance of play. Both Maxence Lacroix and Eddie Nketiah showed what they will offer the side going forward even if some of their work in this game did not quite come off.

Both goals were poor to concede defensively which will need more work on the training ground but perhaps that will just the players getting used to each other, although Daniel Munoz and Marc Guehi were uncharacteristically disappointing.

Small steps and another point on the board in a game that we were all hoping for three points, but football is just not that simple.

POST GAME QUOTES

OLIVER GLASNER

“It was a rocky road, giving the opposition too many situations, sometimes they don’t have to work too hard for it. Mentally it was a very tough game but, coming back like this, big compliments to the players today.

We know we have to improve some parts of our game, but everyone saw we can create good moments and chances against a deep team. Of course, the heart was beating for the late penalty but Jean-Philippe is a great penalty shooter.”

STEVE COOPER

“There was loads of good in the game – in the first half we were miles the better team, I really liked us. We just needed to manage those moments after going 2-0 up, which we didn’t quite do.

There’s definitely loads of good in the game, but if I’m being honest it feels like a loss. Sometimes a point away from home ends up being really important, it might not feel like it at the moment but it might be.

I really want to see the image that says that was definitely onside, because at the moment we have a few questions to ask of the Premier League.”
