It had been 14 straight wins in a row for Chelsea against Palace so it was about time the Eagles halted that slide and they did courtesy of a very special goal to get a point on the board heading into the international break.

TEB VERDICT
A bizarre first half where Palace looked poor but decent in equal measure and had they got their act together, the game really was there for the taking. An early booking for Will Hughes really did affect the midfield but it was an error by Marc Guehi that let the hosts in for the lead.
The Hughes switch for Cheick Doucoure happened early in the second half as the dogged midfielder was accumulating fouls much to the fury of the hosts. It was shortly after the change that Ebere Eze offered the Chelsea keeper to pick that one out after a brilliant strike brought Palace level.
It is quite amazing what a goal can do as the Eagles looked a different side and were immediately in the ascendancy looking for a winner. It could have gone either way in the second half but Palace content with a first point of the season with Dean Henderson making the saves to preserve it.
We have said it before, but the international players exertions across the summer have hindered Palace’s start to the season. Only Daniel Munoz does not look leggy, the rest really do which had a lot to do with that first half. Time to kick on now that we are on the board.
POST GAME QUOTES
OLIVER GLASNER
“Congrats to the team for the performance particularly in the second half. That was really, really good and we scored a fantastic goal. It was a great team performance today and I am very pleased with the point.
I have such a high respect of this group. I know their character. We had 14 players from the first team squad today with some injuries and the new players arrived on the last day so couldn’t play today. In this situation it is really amazing how they stick together. I am really proud to be manager of this amazing group.”
ENZO MARESCA
“We completely deserved to win the game. We had many, many chances. The most important thing was the performance and the performance was there. We conceded just two shots today. We didn’t take the three points but playing the way we did today, I think we will win games.”
