Oliver Glasner showed his intent in cup competitions this season with a strong starting eleven which blew away Championship opponents Norwich at Selhurst Park which hopefully has a knock on effect to league performances after a disappointing start to the campaign.

TEB VERDICT
A strong line up for this cup tie hints at how Glasner will treat cup competitions this season and this result and performance will be a huge boost after starting the season with two Premier League losses.
Goals from Kamada, Eze and a brace for Mateta overpowered the visitors as the hosts thoroughly deserved a place in the Third Round of the competition.
Victories breed confidence and this will hopefully be taken into the game at Chelsea this weekend with several first team players getting plenty of game time with the likes of Guehi, Hughes, Eze and Mateta all with starring roles.
If there is any doubt as to the position of Dean Henderson between the sticks, he has very little to do until having to pull off an impressive double save in the second half.
It was not all good news though as Riad went off early in the second half with what looked to be knee ligament damage which could rule him out at least for this weekend, maybe longer.
The club can now concentrate on the remainder of the transfer window with Olise, Andersen and Ayew all gone, with many fans hoping that more additions will arrive before the deadline.
POST GAME QUOTES
OLIVER GLASNER
“We had a great start with a brilliant goal. We could see that we still had not too much confidence. We made two or three easy mistakes and they were dangerous in transitions. We had a great save from Dean Henderson. Of course, we had two offside goals and today there was no VAR.
We adapted two or three things at half-time and then we did really well. We also could see everybody who was here today after the second goal, it looked like tonnes of weight dropped down from the players’ shoulders. Then, we had confidence again and scored nice goals. Therefore, a very positive evening.”
JEAN-PHILIPPE MATETA
“I love everything. Every game is important for me. I keep working hard for the team and for the club, and to be good for every game in the Premier League and the cup, like today.”
