Positive Feeling For Luton Fans Ahead Of Run In

This Saturday sees us welcome Luton to Selhurst who have come off a run of often narrow defeats.

What can Palace fans expect from the Hatters? To find out I caught up with long time Luton fan and season ticket holder Simon.

TEB – You are in the drop zone at the moment, but only four points off Forest with a game in hand – how’s it feeling right now?

SM – I am feeling positive and not just because of the possible points deductions for teams immediately around us. I have been a big cheerleader of doing things to survive on our own merit and not having to rely on that kind of thing to keep us up. I would rather not have the asterix next to our name but yes, positive about our chances of maintaining our Premier League status.

TEB: So, what’s your hope for the remainder of the season?

SM – To survive! That’s the long and short of it. I think we have shown we are good enough and capable to do so.

TEB – I know you’re not a fan of points penalties, so let me put it this way – do you have a preference for who goes down (assuming it’s Sheffield United, Burnley plus one other)?

SM – I don’t have a particular club of choice to be honest, as long as it’s not Luton Town!

TEB – Who has been your player of the season so far? Ross Barkley has got a lot of plaudits, you mentioned Ogbene earlier in the season – sticking with those?

SM: Yes, Barkley has been just incredible hasn’t he? He has made the deep lying playmaker role his own and has in particular proven many critics wrong this season. He really has been immense. Ogbene as well, I rate him so highly and he has been a critical factor in our push for survival this season.

TEB – Has being in the Premier League this season changed your perspective on the league at all? And are Liverpool still your pantomime villains!?

SM: To be fair the Liverpool critics have been drowned out by the Evertonian ones since we last spoke and I don’t really blame them with the topsy-turvy season they have endured, our proximity in the league and the danger faced at the end of the season.

TEB – If you had a magic wand which player from Palace would you have in the Luton team/squad?

SM – The same answer as last time! Marc Guehi! We could have used someone of the raw talent this season that’s for sure though Ebere Eze and Michael Olise obviously would be in the conversation too.

TEB – How do you think you’ll line up/style of play?

SM – Attacking. We need points. If Sambi Lokonga and Adebayo return from their injuries, we will give you a real game. We are brave and we will go for it. We will have to tighten up at the back though as our brave football can leave us exposed.

TEB – Views on Palace this season?

SM – It was a rough old time under Roy eh? However, I like Glasner, I think he’s a good manager and a good fit for Palace and I see you improving a lot as time goes on with him. The future is still very bright and if you keep hold of key men this summer, you will be fine.

TEB – Prediction for the game?

SM – Luton Town to win 2-1! It’s on the cards for me and we have to convert some points and this game should be one to target, no disrespect intended.
