Exclusive: Carlisle United keen on Crystal Palace defender

League One strugglers Carlisle United are keen on signing Crystal Palace defender Seán Grehan on loan for the rest of the season, The Eagles Beak understands.

Grehan joined the club in the summer of 2022, after a successful trial period at the end of the previous campaign, and he has been a mainstay in the Under 21’s ever since. This season, the Irishman has played in all but one of Palace’s Premier League 2 games and has been a huge standout in Darren Powell’s side.

The centre-back was named on the first-team bench for the first time in his Palace career in the side’s 4-2 away win against Plymouth Argyle in the second round of the EFL Cup in August 2023.

The 19-year-old has recently signed a new contract at Palace keeping him at the club until 2026.

Carlisle United are twenty second in League One and sit three points from safety.
