Pressure Increases On Crystal Palace Boss Roy Hodgson

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson is under increasing pressure in SE25, with the veteran boss set to be handed one more game to turn his side’s fortunes around as they face Brentford on Saturday. A defeat against the bees could force the hierarchy at Crystal Palace to make a managerial change, with the threat of relegation looming over the Eagles once again.

The Eagles Beak sources understand that Steve Cooper is the preferred candidate of Crystal Palace’s Sporting Director, Dougie Freedman. However, it remains to be seen whether or not the former Nottingham Forest manager would be keen on an immediate return to management.

Other members of the club’s hierarchy prefer former Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui, who has been in attendance at numerous Crystal Palace games this season (both home and away). But, any deal would not be straightforward, with the Spanish boss having interest from numerous other Premier League clubs.

It is understood that Steve Parish would prefer to keep Hodgson in charge until the summer, but the downward spiral could cause an acceleration of the succession plans.

Palace have won just one match in twelve and sit three points above the relegation zone, with time seemingly running out for the Palace boss.
