After a very underwhelming midweek game, Palace embark on a challenging run of fixtures starting with Liverpool at home on Saturday.
Klopp’s men look in good form – just two points off the top of the League and having lost just one game all season (and that was in crazy circumstances against Spurs!) Ahead of the game I spoke with lifelong Liverpool fan and fantasy football guru False 9 to get the inside track on Liverpool fans perspective.
TEB – An incredible start to the season given the amount of change in the off season – how has it felt?
F9 – It’s felt like a breath of fresh air. Many of us Reds were desperate for a new midfield signing, and we got four! The squad has so much more energy, and that has translated to the fan base too.
TEB – What’s your ambition for the season?
F9 – Winning the Europa League and a solid title challenge was my hope in the summer. I now think we have a real chance to win the title with City showing some weakness.
TEB – Who has been your star performer so far?
F9 – It has to be Virgil van Dijk. He has really stepped up to the new captaincy role and is reaching levels of form we have not seen in years.
TEB – For any Palace fans who have not seen much of Liverpool this season, how do you think you will line up? Has the style evolved from the classic Klopp ‘gegenpress’?
F9 – This season, it’s all about attack for us. I expect Palace to set-up to frustrate us, and so we’re going to need to bring creativity and ideas.
TEB – Is Trent your key player now, even more than Mo?
F9 – Trent is instrumental to all our team’s creativity, many still only look at his defensive side, when he is dictating games on his own. Special player!
TEB – If you had a magic wand, which Palace player would you take into your squad?
F9 – I’d take Eze or Olise at Liverpool if I could. I think they both have bags of talent and would fit in very well at Liverpool, bringing in some extra creativity from the wings.
TEB – What are your views on Palace this season?
F9 – I always see Palace as quite a solid side, and never see it as an easy win, especially at Selhurst Park which has an iconic atmosphere. It seems like we may be catching Palace at a good time though, with Hodgson causing some unrest among the club and fans with his recent quotes.
TEB – Prediction for the game?
F9 – I’ll predict 3-1 to Liverpool. I just think we’ll have too much for Palace in their current form, but I don’t think it’ll be an easy win at all.
TEB – Lastly, I couldn’t have you do this without asking for a fantasy tip?
F9 – I think this is a great game to own Darwin Nunez especially who will look to stretch that Palace defence. As a Marc Guehi owner, I’ll be benching him!
TEB – Cheers F9! If you would like to hear more from him, especially if you need ongoing fantasy advice, make sure you give a follow on X.
