Chelsea Star Set For A Move To South London

Versatile 18-year-old Chelsea academy star is set for a move to SE25.

It is understood that Crystal Palace have entered advanced talks for 18-year-old Lewis Hall, who has just two years left on his Chelsea contract.

Palace made a move for the Cobham academy product during the January transfer window, but they were stopped in their tracks as Chelsea triggered a one-year extension in the players contract.

The Eagles are looking to bolster their options at left back, providing competition and cover for Tyrick Mitchell. At this time, it is likely that the move for the England U21 International would be a loan with the slight chance of an option to buy. However, there could be some difficulty with the deal as Chelsea are set to ask for a high loan fee with a reduction in the cost per appearance.

During Hall’s breakthrough season at Chelsea, he made nine Premier League appearances and won Chelsea’s Academy Player of the Year award. He is an extremely talented box to box player and has played in various positions at youth level. Albeit, his favoured and strongest position is left back. Palace have a lack of depth in that position, therefore a move for Hall seems extremely sensible.

Palace have previously taken advantage of loans from Chelsea including both Connor Gallagher and Ruben Loftus-Cheek. It is fair to say, that the clubs have quite a strong relationship and should be able to come to an agreement for Hall.

The Palace transfer window is now truly underway, with the club attempting to fill gaps in the squad ahead of the season opener against Sheffield United on August 12th.

Palace have now made some steady progress in the market. The arrival of Jefferson Lerma and Matheus França, advanced talks for Lewis Hall with a striker remaining high on the agenda.

  1. Actually he is a midfielder who can play at Left back as most academy kids are tried in various positions.
