ONE TO WATCH

WESTON MCKENNIE

FORMER CLUBS – FC Phonix Otterbach, FC Dallas, Schalke 04, Juventus

The American international arrived at Elland Road on loan from Juventus in January and has been a valuable addition to the Leeds squad, and taking advantage of the situation the Italian giants currently find themselves in.

KEY CLASH

JOACHIM ANDERSEN v PATRICK BAMFORD

The former Palace striker has only recently returned to the starting line up following a lengthy spell out injured and will be a big factor if Leeds are to stay up this season. He will come face to face with the Danish international who himself had a short spell out recently due to injury but will be keen to put in a performance that helps Palace grab a point or three.

PRE-MATCH FACTS

  • Roy Hodgson has lot 5 of his last 6 league matches against Leeds, his highest losing percentage against a team he has faced more than once

  • Since returning to the Premier League in 2020, Leeds have won both of their home matches against Palace without conceding a goal

  • Palace won against Leicester in their first league game of Roy Hodgson’s second spell in charge, as many wins as they had had in their previous 15 league games (W1 D5 L9). The Eagles most recently won consecutive games in November

  • Leeds manager Javi Gracia is unbeaten in all 3 of his league meetings against Palace and Roy Hodgson (W2 D1), all as Watford boss. It is the joint most he has faced a side without losing (along with Southampton) and the most often he has faced a manager without losing in the competition

DID YOU KNOW?

Don Revie was a superstitious man, and there was no better example than in September 1970. In a game at Stoke City, Leeds were forced to wear a different colour away kit, orange, for the first time ever. They lost 2-0 and Revie was so annoyed, he reportedly burned them after the game, never to be seen again.

PREDICTION

Both teams head into the fixture off the back of home wins which will have rejuvenated their fortunes, especially as they were against teams in and around them. The Eagles to not have a great record at Elland Road but at the same time, we are expecting them to follow up the win against Leicester with something from this fixture.

FINAL SCORE: 1-1
