Palace Head To Brighton Needing A Result To Kick Start Season

The pressure is and while that may seem harsh during such a tough run of fixtures, the lack of a victory so far this calendar year is increasing the attention on Patrick Vieira and his coaching staff. They need to find a way of getting a result or at least protecting the good recent record against our rivals from on the South Coast.

ONE TO WATCH

SOLLY MARCH

FORMER CLUBS – Eastbourne Borough, Lewes

The winger has been at Brighton for over a decade and has become one of their more important players in the last 18 months or so, and got himself on the score sheet at Selhurst a few weeks back.

KEY CLASH

WILFRIED ZAHA v LEWIS DUNK

If Vieira persists on starting Zaha in his favoured role as the loan striker then this match up will be very interesting indeed, between two players who know what this rivalry means and have been extremely influential in previous match ups.

PRE-MATCH FACTS

  • Brighton are winless in their past 7 league meetings with Palace (D5 L2), with the past 3 all finishing 1-1. It is their longest ever winless run against Palace in their league history

  • Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister has scored 7 goals in 21 Premier League games this season, more than he had in his previous 63 appearances in the competition (6). The Argentina international is looking to score in 3 consecutive Premier League matches for the first time

DID YOU KNOW?

In 1901, the club played in what was known as the Southern League under the name of Brighton and Hove United. The name didn’t last long, and the name of the club was quickly changed to Brighton and Hove Albion to remove the confusion between another team that had recently been disbanded, Brighton and Hove Rangers.

PREDICTION

This is a fixture that is extremely difficult to predict even though the last few have been score draws. Brighton are in good for but have eyes on a very winnable FA Cup Quarter Final at the weekend. Meanwhile, Palace are struggling to find form other than consistently drawing games so with that in mind, it is probably a good bet to go with another draw, but Palace really could do with a positive result heading into the trip to Arsenal at the weekend.

FINAL SCORE: 1-1
