Vieira Looking For Palace To Extend Unbeaten Run With Point Or Three From Everton

We all know the fallout from the last visit to Goodison for the Eagles but it may have been forgotten that an entertaining game broke out. It would be churlish to suggest Patrick Vieira holds a grudge but it would be surprising if the events of that evening are not mentioned in the build up to this match.

  • Goodison Park, Goodison Road, Liverpool L4 4EL

PREVIOUS MEETING

It is hard to forget the last time this fixture was played as so much happened. The hosts were under pressure with a real threat of relegation but Palace went in at the break with a two goal lead courtesy of Jean-Philippe Mateta and Jordan Ayew. The second half was very different with Michael Keane and Richarlison bringing the hosts level and Dominic Calvert-Lewin finding the winner late on, amid pitch invasions by the Goodison faithful.

The events of that evening will be at the forefront of Palace minds going into the game.

ONE TO WATCH

AMADOU ONANA

FORMER CLUBS – Anderlecht, RWS Bruxelles, Zulte Waregem, 1899 Hoffenheim, Hamburger SV, Lille

The Senegal born Belgium international joined the club in the summer after being watched by a number of top clubs across Europe. He has slotted into the Everton midfield seamlessly following his reported £33million move from Lille.

KEY CLASH

ODSONNE EDOUARD v CONOR COADY

It was perhaps unfortunate that the performance of the Frenchman in midweek was overshadowed by that of Zaha and Eze, but his all round game play was superb. He will be up against the former Wolves captain who shocked many when his loan more to the Blue side of Merseyside was announced.

PREDICTION

A team in form playing a team out of form, but many of this Palace side will remember the manner of the defeat at Goodison last season and the fallout from the events that evening. That is not to say Patrick Vieira holds grudges but he will be keen to get one over on the opponents and their fans this time around. We would take a point considering the Eagles will miss our best central midfielder for this fixture.

FINAL SCORE: 1-1
