That is three of the longest away trips of the season in the bag early on and the Eagles have been more than competitive in each of them, even if they needed a bit of luck in this one, but you do make your own luck.

TEB VERDICT
This was a very hard earned point after a favourable VAR decision went the way of the visitors, but more importantly, Vicente Guaita was in fine form with a string of saves to keep the hosts at bay.
Palace did have their chances with the best ones falling to Jean-Philippe Mateta and Odsonne Edouard who you could argue should be netting after working very good positions with the ball.
Fans may well have been disappointed by the lack of activity late on in the summer transfer window but an early addition to the squad, Cheick Doucoure, is proving to be a real smart piece of business. He starred once again in his central midfield role and played a major role in Palace securing a point.
This was the second draw in succession for the Eagles in what has been a decent start to the season considering the opposition, having only lost to Arsenal and Manchester City. The tough fixtures continue with United and Chelsea either side of a trip to Brighton. Picking up points in any of those will keep things ticking over until we hit a slightly better run of fixtures to the break for the World Cup.
POST GAME QUOTES
PATRICK VIEIRA – “The positive is not conceding. We came here with a good idea to defend well and I think we did it. It was a challenging place to come and perform. We had our momentum, we had our chances. We didn’t score but overall I’m pleased with the point.
Vicente was unbelievable. He had an unbelievable game. He was really good in the air, he made some really good saves which allowed us to stay in the game.
I’m happy with what we’ve been producing game after game, less with the number of points we have. We have built something that will give us hope to win football matches.”
EDDIE HOWE – “It was one of those games for us where we performed really well. Lots of aspects of our performance were very good, we created chances in all phases of our play – build-up, counter-attacking, set-plays – we just couldn’t get that final bit of quality just to seal our good work. It wasn’t to be today.
Their goalkeeper made a couple of good saves that I can recall. I’m not sure it was a day for defenders because it was quite an open game, it was a tough physical challenge for us today off the back of playing on Wednesday and the game at Anfield was incredibly tough physically.”
