Palace Looking To Stem Run Of Losses As Leeds Come To Town

The disappointment of the lack of reaction in midweek was evident in the post match comments from Patrick Vieira but with some much needed rest behind them before lining up against Leeds on Monday night, it is hoped that there will be a return to winning ways for the Eagles.

KEY CLASH

JEAN-PHILIPPE MATETA v LIAM COOPER

The French striker had to warm the bench until being called upon in the second half against Newcastle midweek, and he did liven things up even though Palace could not manage to take anything from the game. He will likely return to the starting line up to face the visiting captain.

This is the first game at Selhurst Park for the Eagles since the home victory against Arsenal on the 4th April.

The Eagles have not won since then and are currently on a three game losing streak.

Leeds are unbeaten in four league games which has seen them pull away from the bottom three.

Palace have not lost at home to Leeds in five games, their last home defeat was in March 2006 which Leeds won 2-1.

DID YOU KNOW?

Before there was Leeds United, there was Leeds City. The club was formed in 1904 and played at Elland Road. During the First World War, however, the club came under fire for illegal payments to players and they were expelled from the Football League with the new United side forming in the Midland League.

PREDICTION

This fixture is a match-up of two sides opposite in form. While Leeds still need the points to keep themselves at arm’s length of the relegation zone, Palace need to find a way of winning again and getting back on course for  a potential top ten finish. A return to familiar surroundings will hopefully work wonders for the Eagles

FINAL SCORE: 3-1 to Palace
