ONE TO WATCH

WOUT WEGHORST

FORMER CLUBS – NEO, DETO, Willem II, Emmen, Heracles Almelo, AZ Alkmaar, VfL Wolfsburg

Eyebrows were raised when Burnley decided to sell Chris Wood to Newcastle but they clearly had a plan up their sleeve when he was replaced by Dutch international Weghorst from the Bundesliga. The 29 year old is an experienced goal scorer and arrives at Turf Moor with plenty of respect having hit the back of the net 59 times in 118 appearances at Wolfsburg and 31 in 60 games at AZ Alkmaar

KEY CLASH

MARC GUEHI v WOUT WEGHORST

This is going to be quite a battle with the Dutchman already having a goal under his belt at his new club and Guehi in great form and off the back of taking the captains armband for the victory at Watford

DID YOU KNOW?

Burnley have been champions of England twice (1920-21, 1959-60) and have won the FA Cup once (1913-14). they are one of only five sides to have won all four professional divisions in English football

PREDICTION

Both teams will be seeking all three points, with the visitors arguably the more in need of them in view of their precarious position in the Premier League. However, their home win against Spurs in the week backing up their away win at Brighton sees them in good form as they head to Selhurst. In contrast, Palace secured their first win of 2022 on Wednesday evening and will be looking to back that up before focusing on the FA Cup. It will be a tight affair, there is no doubt about it but we are backing the Eagles to end a run of three home defeats in a row with victory over the Clarets.

FINAL SCORE:  2-1

BETTING ODDS

  • Home – 9/10
  • Draw – 5/2
  • Away – 3/1
