You could argue that we expected better from the Eagles in this fourth round FA Cup tie, but you should never underestimate lower league opposition in this competition and the performance rarely matters when you find yourself progressing.

TEB VERDICT
The build up to this FA Cup tie makes your proud to be a Palace fan and just shows exactly what can be achieved. As for the game itself, the Eagles put in a performance that while not up the usual standard, it was enough to get through to the next round of the cup which is all you can ask. It was a good run out and minutes in the legs for the likes of Martin Kelly and Eberechi Eze but once again Michael Olise starred in the FA Cup.

POST GAME QUOTES
PATRICK VIEIRA –“I wouldn’t say it was comfortable but we started the game well. We wanted to play from the start with intensity and to get that early goal and we managed to do it. It allowed us to control the game a bit more. I am really satisfied with the professionalism we showed. We want to give ourselves the best chance to go as far as we can. It is a tricky competition. When you play against the lower league there is an excitement. They try to create an upset and we didn’t want to be one of those teams. It is still too early (to say how far Palace could go). What we want is to have a good run. To go to the end, you need luck as well.”
GRAEME LEE –”I was disappointed first half as we sat off them too much. The goal we conceded from a set-piece we shouldn’t do. Second half we came out, dropped the shackles and got at them more. We were in the game. But we gave ourselves an uphill battle against a Premier League team. We kept going and were excellent second half. We need to be that in our league games now. When we got hold of the ball and moved it we got up the pitch well. Unfortunately, we didn’t take any chances. After the game, the noise the fans make and the support they give us, they have been amazing.”
