No sooner has Patrick Vieira been appointed Palace boss, his first new signing has come through the door.
That new addition comes in the shape of highly rated Reading forward Michael Olise for a snip of a transfer fee at £8million.
The 19-year-old played a major role for Reading last season, scoring seven goals in 46 games, and was named EFL Young Player of the season.
When asked for views on Olise, our pals at The Tilehurst End told us;
A marvellous talent. Champions League potential, already worth several times the £8million Palace are reportedly paying. He is best playing as a number ten, but can play off the right too. Fantastic close control, dribbling, vision and passing across all ranges. Nice eye for goal too and strong on set pieces. If it does o’t work out for him at Palace, it will not be for lack of potential. He has shown before that he can adapt to different managers’ expectations, get his head down, work and improve. We suspect he will be with you for a season or two before going on to higher level club for big £s.
Olise takes the coveted number seven shirt at Palace and arrives with plenty of promise. He arrived at Reading in 2016 after stints in both the Chelsea and Manchester City academy set ups. Born in Hammersmith, Olise made his debut for the Royals in the 2018/19 season, one of just two appearances that campaign before stepping up in the 2019/20 season by making 13.
In his final season with the Berkshire club, Olise appeared 37 times in the Championship, scoring 7 goals, and making 12 assists. His Who Scored rating for the season ended at 7.07. To date, he has made two international appearances for France at Under 18 level.
Welcome to Palace, Michael!
