Eagles Bid a Fond Farewell To Hodgson At Anfield

Much has been and will be said of Palace boss Roy Hodgson but in time his tenure at the club will be well remember as one that provided much needed stability. It is ironic that his final game in charge of the Eagles will be against a club where he was much maligned during and after his time at Anfield and a result that prevents to hosts from qualifying for the Champions League will no doubt see him head back to South London with a wry smile on his face.

23rd May 2021

KICK OFF

4pm

VENUE

Anfield, Anfield Road, Liverpool L4 0TH

LAST TIME

It was not pretty for the Eagles when they last visited Anfield in June 2020, as first half goals from Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah gave the hosts the lead at the break. The second half was no better as the Reds added to their tally through Fabinho and Sadio Mane to secure a convincing win.

FORMER CLUBS – Generation Foot, Metz, Red Bull Salzburg, Southampton

The Senegal international has not matched his form of the previous campaign but the Eagles will still need to be wary as he does like to get on the score sheet against Palace.

KEY CLASH

WILFRIED ZAHA v TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD

With a number of players questionable ahead of this fixture, it is difficult to pick a decent match up so this is the one that sticks out. Zaha comes to the end of season which has been his best from a goal scoring perspective and will keen to go up against a full back that is expected to go to the Euros this summer.

PREDICTION

No player likes to be on the end of a good hiding so the Eagles will want to make amends for the disappointing thrashing at Selhurst Park earlier in the season. Having said that, the hosts need a win to ensure they qualify for the Champions League next season, and Palace can often spring a surprise as an underdog.

FINAL SCORE: 2-2
