Chelsea Face Palace At Selhurst With One Eye On Champions League Progression

With just the one defeat in six for the Eagles, the visit of Chelsea will be a test of the hosts aspirations of securing a top ten finish in the Premier League this season.

DATE

10th April 2021

KICK OFF

5.30pm

VENUE

Selhurst Park Stadium, Holmesdale Road, Selhurst, London SE25 6PU

LAST TIME

Chelsea last visited Selhurst Park in July 2020 when they raced into a two goal lead courtesy of goals from Olivier Giroud and Christian Pulisic. Palace were left chasing the game but reduced the arrears through Wilfried Zaha before the break but a third for the Blues from Tammy Abraham effectively looked to seal all three points. Palace did not to give up though and grabbed a second through Christian Benteke but failed to find an equaliser.

ONE TO WATCH

HAKIM ZIYECH

FORMER CLUBS – Reaal Dronten, ASV Dronten, Heerenveen, Twente, Ajax

The Moroccan international joined the Blues in the summer of 2020 after a number of eye catching performances for Ajax. He has yet to hit the same heights for Chelsea since arriving but injury had slowed his progress but there are plenty of signs that he will be a key player for them.

KEY CLASH

GARY CAHILL v OLIVIER GIROUD

With European involvement it is likely the French striker will start the game against Palace and he will be up against a former Blue if that turns out to be the case. Cahill will relish going up against his former employers once again.

PREDICTION

A lot will depend on how Chelsea boss Tuchel chooses to rotate his side with the club on the brink of the Champions League semi finals, and it is expected that there will be changes for Palace to try and exploit. The Eagles looked fit and fresh against Everton on Monday and hopefully there will be more of the same.
