Eagles Return To Action After What Seems A Mid Season Break

After a three week break Palace return with a trip to take on Everton and a chance of closing in on the top ten in the Premier League, but the hosts have ambitions of their own and a return to European competition is well within their reach.

ONE TO WATCH

ANDRE GOMES

FORMER CLUBS – Porto, Pasteleira, Boavista, Benfica, Valencia, Barcelona

It is impressive how well the Portuguese international has bounced back from such a horrible injury but he is back in the starting eleven and showing just what Everton have missed in his time on the sidelines. Since joining from Barcelona in 2018, Gomes has made well over 50 appearances for the Toffees.

KEY CLASH

CHEIKHOU KOUYATE v DOMINIC CALVERT-LEWIN

The two will go head to head in the game and both have been in good for their clubs this season. It is likely that the Everton striker will move between both Palace centre backs and his strength in the air will be a threat but Kouyate has performed well this season is his new position at the club.

PRE-MATCH FACTS

  • Palace have not won at Goodison in 5 attempts
  • Their last victory in this fixture was in September 2014
  • In fact, that was Palace’s last victory over Everton home or away
  • Everton are on a 3 game winning streak in this fixture

PRE-MATCH STATS

  • GOALS – Wilfried Zaha (9 – 12th in PL)
  • ASSISTS – Andros Townsend (4)
  • PASSES – Luka Milivojevic 1030
  • TACKLES – Andros Townsend (64 – 9th in PL)
  • TOUCHES – Luka Milivojevic (1312)
  • SHOTS – Wilfried Zaha (45)

PREDICTION

Difficult to know how this one will go for two reasons – it is three weeks since Palace were last in action along with the fact that they have been very Jekyll and Hyde this season. Having said that, there should be plenty of fresh legs in the squad to give the hosts a game.

FINAL SCORE: 2-2
