Palace Return To Action Against The Hammers At Selhurst

It is very much a case of getting back to it after a brief time to take stock and spend some time on the training ground for the Eagles who welcome the Hammers at Selhurst Park.

DATE

26th January 2021

KICK OFF

6pm

VENUE

Selhurst Park Stadium, Holmesdale Road, Selhurst, London SE25 6PU

The last time this fixture took place was Boxing Day 2019 which ended in such a manner that has gone down in Palace folklore. Robert Snodgrass have the visitors the lead shortly after half time but former Hammer Cheikhou Kouyate levelled things up. The hosts left it late to take all three points but it was well worth it as Jordan Ayew picked up the ball and produced something truly magical to seal the win for the Eagles.

FORMER CLUBS – NRD Bethioua, Balma SC, Colomiers, Nice, Angers (loan), Gazelec Ajaccio (loan), Chateauroux (loan), Brentford

The 25-year-old winger joined the Hammers in October 2020 in a year-long loan deal from Brentford having scored 27 goals in 83 appearances for the Championship side with an agreement to make the deal permanent. Interestingly, the Algerian international played for the same French side as new Palace signing Jean-Philippe Mateta, Chateauroux.

KEY CLASH

CHEIKHOU KOUYATE v MICHAIL ANTONIO

The former West Ham team mates go head to head in the game at Selhurst and it will be a tightly fought contest between the two. The Senegalese captain will do well to keep the in form Hammers striker quiet, but if he does it will help Palace get a result.

PREDICTION

Week in, week out, you just never know what Palace side we are going to get. One week it is the side that beat United at Old Trafford, the next it is the side that get hammered by the likes of Liverpool and City. Hopefully a few days rest will bode well for Palace and they can take advantage against the Hammers but are expecting this midweek match up to end all square.
