Palace Planning To Make It Three In A Row To Ensure Stress Free End To Season

The Eagles will be on the hunt for a third Premier League win in succession which will effectively allay any fears of being dragged into trouble this season, but it will be difficult against the first team to inflict defeat on leaders Liverpool.

DATE

7th March 2020

KICK OFF

3pm

VENUE

Selhurst Park Stadium, Holmesdale Road, Selhurst, London SE25 6PU

LAST TIME

This fixture was last played out in January 2019 when a Craig Cathcart own goal gave the Eagles a first half lead. The Watford centre back made amends with an equaliser midway through the second half and a quick second for the visitors by substitute Tom Cleverley sealed the win and it could have been more with Gerard Deulofeu and Roberto Pereyra both hitting the woodwork. It did not help Palace’s cause with Vicente Guaita having to be replaced at the break.

ONE TO WATCH

ISMAILA SARR

Former clubs – Generation Foot, Metz, Rennes

The Senegal international played a key part in Watford’s win over Liverpool at the weekend. That performance has made plenty sit up and take notice in the talented winger who the Hornets signed in the summer from French club Rennes. The 22 year old made his professional debut for Metz in 2016 and has quickly made a name for himself since then, he already has over 20 international caps for his country.

KEY CLASH

GARY CAHILL v TROY DEENEY

The former Chelsea defender was outstanding last weekend against Brighton and will relish this challenge. It is clear Watford missed their talisman striker earlier in the season and it is no coincidence that their upturn in form has had a lot to do with his return. This battle will be an interesting one.

  • Palace have not beaten Watford in the last 5 games in all competitions

  • The last time Palace beat Watford was at Selhurst Park in December 2017
  • Top assists – Gerard Deulofeu (5), Ismaila Sarr (3)

PREDICTION

Watford will be on a high after beating the league leaders but that may play into Palace’s hands. However, the Hornets can ill afford a drop in form considering their poor first half of the season and any dropped points will put them straight back in trouble. We are banking on the Eagles continuing their good recent form with a third win in a row.

Final score: 2-1

  • Draw – 21/10
  • Away – 15/8
