ONE TO WATCH

DWIGHT MCNEIL

Former clubs – Manchester United

The Rochdale born midfielder began his career in the academy at Manchester United before moving to Burnley in 2014. He has been in fine form for the Clarets so far this season, so much so that fans are wondering how he has not been called up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad. He has represented his country at both under 20 and under 21 levels.

KEY CLASH

ANDROS TOWNSEND v CHARLIE TAYLOR

The Palace winger shone in the home defeat to Liverpool last weekend and will hopefully carry that on against Burnley. He will likely be up against Charlie Taylor who has made two appearances for Burnley so far this season. If Palace are to return to South London with all three points then there will be a reliance on both Townsend and Zaha to shine.

PRE-GAME STATS

  • Palace have been drawing at half time and lost at full time in the last three league matches
  • Top tacklers – Erik Pieters (31), Luka Milivojevic (29), James McArthur (29)
  • Palace have been winning at half time and won at full time in the last three league matches against Burnley
  • Top scorers – Chris Wood (6), Jordan Ayew (4)
  • Palace have conceded at least 2 goals in their last 5 league matches
  • Top passers – Ashley Westwood (613), Luka Milivojevic (561)
  • Palace have won their last 3 league games against Burnley

PREDICTION

The first of a kinder run of fixtures but no means easy as Palace make the trip up to Burnley who come into the game off the back of a good win at Watford. It will be interesting to see how the confidence is in the Eagles camp after playing the top five in consecutive weeks, but for the most part they have played well. If Roy Hodgson’s men carry on where they left off against Liverpool, we think there is a chance of returning with all three points but at least a point must be taken.

Final score: 2-1 win for Palace (Zaha, Ayew)
